Kelly’s Roots in Fitness & Wellness
I first fell in love with fitness as a kid. I grew up taking care of horses, mucking stalls, tossing hay bales, and working out to my Mom's Buns of Steel tapes since we didn't have cable. My first job was working at a gym when I was 16 years old. I became a certified personal trainer by the time I was 18 and became a published health and fitness writer in college. I wrote a health and fitness column for the Johns Hopkins University school paper and continued to write for newspapers, magazines, and websites after graduating.
Over the years I have embarked on various fitness and self-discovery journeys. I was a Division 1 lacrosse player at Johns Hopkins, marathon runner, and a professional bodybuilder (IFBB Bikini Division). I have always considered myself to be a student of fitness and wellness, and ultimately of life.
I started practicing and teaching mobility, mindfulness, and holistic health practices in the process of healing my own health conditions and overcoming burnout.
I had reached many of my athletic and career goals, but I was unfulfilled, unhealthy (despite looking like the picture of health), and uninspired by life.
I set out on a quest; learned from nature, and got back to basics. I discovered new techniques and practices, experienced different cultures, reconnected with God, and started to care more about helping others and the planet than trying to look a certain way.
With patience and practice I started to feel myself coming back to life; truly alive, healthy, and fulfilled.
It is from these experiences I began to heal from the inside out and transform. I created ELEMENTAL CONDITIONING to share the lessons and practices with you.
Even though it's been over a decade in the fitness and wellness industry I feel there is still so much to learn. I love that! The journey never ends.
